WHY I STARTED FUELED HEALTH
Hi, I'm Sara, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Functional Nutrition Practitioner, and lifelong athlete.
Movement and fueling have always been part of my life. I earned a degree in Exercise and Health Science, worked as a personal trainer and firefighter/paramedic, and eventually became a nurse practitioner to help people take charge of their health in ways that actually last.
But across every role, I kept seeing the same problem.
People were doing "all the right things" and still not getting better.
They were told to try harder, be more disciplined, or accept that how they felt was just part of aging or stress.
Symptoms were treated separately. Nutrition, hormones, energy, and stress were rarely addressed as connected systems. Patients left with another prescription but no real plan.
Fueled Health exists to change that.
WHY THE METABOLIC ROOT CAUSE APPROACH?
After 20 years in the ER, I discovered what conventional medicine was missing: anxiety, weight struggles, fatigue, and hormonal issues aren't separate problems.
Research from Harvard's metabolic psychiatry program and Columbia's mitochondrial research shows they share the same root cause—metabolic and mitochondrial dysfunction.
This is why someone can do "all the right things" and still struggle. The symptoms get treated, but the metabolic patterns driving them don't. That's the gap Fueled Health fills.
WHY NUTRITION IS AT THE CORE
Alongside my clinical work, I pursued a Master's degree in Integrative and Functional Nutrition because I saw the gap: conventional medicine wasn't addressing what actually drives metabolic dysfunction.
Nutrition isn't about willpower or meal plans. It's the lever that directly influences blood sugar regulation, hormone production, mitochondrial function, neurotransmitter synthesis, and inflammatory responses.
When nutrition is misunderstood or under-supported, your metabolism can't work optimally—no matter how hard you try.
When it's dialed in, the body has what it needs to regulate blood sugar, produce energy efficiently, balance hormones, and support mental clarity.

I've lived this from both sides.
